Tank Legality Issues

Using LPG is legal for off highway use.  In most states, there are ways to get it legalized for daily drivers, also.  (In most cases, this involves getting the vehicle emissions tested for alternative fuel vehicles, which is not hard to pass.)  HOWEVER not all propane filling stations have a license to fill tanks for road-bound vehicles.  In fact, only about 50% of them do.  Therefore, if you decided to use a tank that is permanently mounted in your vehicle, many propane dealers will not fill it if there is even an inkling of doubt in their mind that your vehicle may touch the street.  That is why I chose to use the fork-lift tanks.  I can remove them and take them in separately.  If they ask what I am using them with, I just tell them that I am using them on a fork-lift.  My vehicle never touches the road anyway, so I am not braking any laws.  Being able to remove the tanks separately is also convenient so that I don't have to tow the entire Jeep in to fill it.  These are things to take into consideration when choosing a tank.
